I'm Chara, the owner and chief confectionaire of Cruzin' Confections and Creamery. I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue in 2001. Limiting my diet to be free from wheat and gluten was challenging, because at this time Gluten-Free options were very limited, especially if you wanted them to taste good. After being diagnosed, I decided to turn my passion of baking into a mission to provide delicious desserts to those with similar dietary restrictions. In 2018, I started by opening a cottage food bakery out of my home called Chara's Cakepops. It brought me so much joy to provide tasty treats such as cakepops, cupcakes, cakes, donuts and other confections to my community.  During 2021-2022, my husband, Tom and I decided to embark on a new adventure of building a food truck to take my sweets to the streets. Unfortunately, we were greeted with a challenge of finding a commercial kitchen to use for the food truck. However, at this time my dreams were within reach and we could not give up. In 2023, we decided to stop looking for a kitchen and instead build our own. During the buildout process, we decided that we would build the kitchen to be a shared space for others in a similar situation. Keeping in mind the precautions needed when working with allergies. As well as taking pride in using high-quality ingredients and ensuring that our products are safe for everyone. Now in 2024, we are launching both a gluten-free and allergy-friendly food truck serving a variety of baked goods and ice cream. Allowing everyone to "Enjoy sweets without the Wheat."  As well as opening Cruzin' Kitchens to others to be able to flourish their business within the community.   Follow us on social media to find out where we'll be next!
